Well to all those of you that thought I forgot about you last week I didn't. It doesn't look the the last blog worked all that well and didn't stay on the site. I'm hoping it doesn't happen to this one.
And it was a really good blog too - I mention how I came off of him for the 2nd time ever and I also think I had next weeks winning lottery numbers listed on there. Damn hey!
So we are back on our lessons again - thank god, because I'm pretty sure the lack of riding has been adding to my poor mood lately. September was just a crazy month for me being out of town and crappy weather and I think its just a good month for horsey holidays.
That said I'm thrilled to be in the first week of October and back to riding. Our lesson I think went well. We were both kind of riding sideways in the beginning, but then towards the end of our flat work I think we were getting it. At the very least I'm starting to feel when a ride is REALLY good, and when its just a slack ass ride, and when we suck horribly. I do know after today we are both out of shape. I'm honestly thinking myself moreso then Oz. We did about a half lesson on flat work, and it wasn't boring at all. I know my biggest vice is my inside rein, and I'm just too heavy with it, and to lighten up on it, instead of just loosen up on my death grip, I'm dropping my hand. Frusterating as all hell.
Its like jumping and staring at the ground or the standard - you know your doing it, but its so hard to stop in the middle of doing it, and you kick yourself after cuz you know you did wrong.
Then we practiced on some one stride bounce jumps. These always intimidated me - moreso when there is like 8 of them, then say the 2 we did today. But when your actually jumping in and out and in and out, I was so focused on my position we where in and out before I ever knew it.
The lesson was great - as is the norm now, but above all else, it was just nice to ride and be focused and working.
We have our last show of the season coming up not this weekend but next in Salmon Arm at Topline.
